Real beer has barley. And hops. And wheat. And delicious alcohol. That’s what beer is. Real beer doesn’t have jasmine. Or orange peel. Or peppercorn. And real beer should never contain honey or toffee. "I remember taking a sample to a bar in 1989, and the people were literally laughing at me; it was a belly laugh," said Rich Doyle, chairman and CEO of Harpoon Brewery. "They said: 'You can’t put spices in beer. That’s the dumbest thing ever.’ Nobody would laugh now."
