    Founded in 1986

The Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100-seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand.

We’ve been proud to call Louisiana home & have always understood our responsibility to be a good member of our community. Over the next several months, we plan to keep Culture on Tap by spotlighting & sharing some of our favorite Louisiana artists & local businesses that have the same passion for their work as we do. We hope this helps bring awareness & support to their business when they need it most.

The next artist we want to spotlight is culinary extraordinaire, Chef Tory McPhail of Commanders Palace. Originally from Washington State, Chef Tory moved to New Orleans at just 19 and worked his way around the Commander’s Palace kitchen until 2002 when he became the Executive Chef. Currently he & his team are partnered with The Krewe of Red Beans to bring food to front line workers in hospitals & EMS. He says, “We keep touching base with all of our employees and we’re excited to get cooking again just as soon as we can.”

Wondering how you can support Chef Tory? Take a minute & visit his website at https://bit.ly/2VtQSYs. If you jump over to his Instagram, you can check out what he has recently been working on. While you are there give him a follow and let his work inspire & encourage you.
